This year we’re partnering with Fauntleyroy’s Children Center, a West Seattle 501(c)(3) that has provided high-quality childcare and early education since 1977. They are currently raising funds to purchase a school bus that will allow them to safely transport local kids on field trips and enrichment activities.

What started in 2021 as a way to make setting up holiday decorations more enjoyable, quickly spiraled out of control into our current annual light show with over 60,000 addressable LEDs. This show is put on for fun, as a hobby, but a significant amount my of time goes into putting this show on each year - if you like the show consider donating to Fauntleyroy’s Children Center.
Move into West Seattle 2019. First music synchronized show in 2023. Things are getting organized in 2025.

I use Kulp control boards to drive the WS2811 LEDs. Those control boards are connected to BBB or RaspPi boards to host falcon player (FPP) which is what runs the light shows I make over our network. Nearly all of the lights are 12v/24v WS2811 addressable LEDs. There are also a few DMX controlled devices. I use an FM transmitter to broadcast the signal. I also use cheap amp & outdoor tweeters to play music.
A long time. I get faster each time, but it can easily take me 10 hours to create a show for a 2-minute song.
If you’re somewhat technical, you can probably do it. It can be cost prohibitive to quickly get to the point of doing a full show, but if you’re patient you can acquire a little bit each year.
